Power Steering just died on the highway

I was on my way to drive from LA to SF and my power steering just failed on the 5 in Santa Clarita. Thank got there's a Mercedes dealer in Valencia and this didn't happen out in Bakersifield or something.

The car just got a new IC pump from the dealer a few days ago. Maybe they messed something up with the power steering? I'm getting the error message to visit workshop in red.

I'm just waiting for the tow truck to take the car to Valencia dealer. I have to be at work tomorrow morning in SF so I hope they can get everything sorted out ASAP.

Really? I should be at the dealer around 3pm. I think the power steering fluid is just low.

As with any dealer, they work on cars mostly in a FIFO fashion. If you're lucky and they don't have a bunch of cars they need to get done, they might be able to look at yours. If not, you're kinda out of luck.

Hey, there's a dealership in Bakersfield, too. It's not *that* desolate out here ;-)

You can always call Pep Boys to tow you from the dealer to the Pep Boys a few miles east of there. They'll even wave the tow charge if you let them fix it, but that's if you trust places like Pep Boys.

Just got to the dealer. The supercharger belt is shredded. Very strange as the dealer just replaced the IC pump 2 days ago. Hopefully they can replace it ASAP.

So the belt ripped and debris got everywhere. They have to fully clean the pully and surrounding equipment. They also have to replace the pully tensioner or something else (forgot the name).

Unfortunately the car won't be ready until tomorrow. Tech said cleanup would take a whole because rubber debris got everywhere.

That sucks. They don't have an air compressor or something? I can't imagine it taking more than two minutes tops to blow everything clean.

I'm not sure. The tech said it would take a while. By the time he got a chance to look at my car at was like 4:30 and they stop working at 5. Hopefully it will be ready tomorrow morning.

I'm just surprised no one noticed anything when they were replacing the IC pump over the weekend.

This sounds fishy if they just fixed your IC pump and right away your belt grenades.

Yah it does but what can I do. It was actually 2 separate MB dealers, not the same one. I was already late on my drive to SF so I didn't bother digging deeper. I just paid $150 for the belt/labor and the pulley pensioner and towing were covered by warranty.

Hey guys,

I took this quick video of my engine today. Does this sound normal to you guys? I've previously driven a regular E-class and CLS, both of which were relatively quiet. I'm referring to the ticking sound. (Sorry about moving the camera around so much).

The sound seems to be coming from the SC or on either side of the SC.

which is where the injectors are. Not much insides the blower 'cept bearings, few gears, and vanes. Did it get louder after your incident?

I never really payed attention to it before as I only had the car for a day or two before.

The car seems to be driving well, I'm just wondering whether or not that sound is normal.

Your good., mine makes more noise than that. Think my blower bearing(s) are going out, so that is on the to-do list. LOL.
