Thanks!
I know that you normally drive around in "M" mode, but if you could also do a few pulls in "S" to show how the TCU runs in that mode also, that would be really helpful.
On my car "M" mode is so sluggish and lazy between shifts that I gave up using it almost immediately... I don't know how guys can crack off fast shifts with it in an E55. I hear the E63 is MUCH better in manual mode than our cars.

I call for the upshift.....then wait.....wait.....wait......then after a couple of seconds (and quite a few extra RPMs) the transmission finally upshifts. You almost have to anticipate the upshift and ask for it about 500RPMs sooner than you actually want it just to get the timing right.
It was a real disappointment. I couldn't figure out why guys even cared about upgrading to the fancier E63 paddles on the steering wheel, because the shifts were so lousy that I wouldn't ever want to use them.
Weird.

Hey J, if you get a chance can you shoot a vid with the trans in drive and make a half throttle from 0 to 65 so that we can the trans shift by itself. thx

I drive in M mode because there isn't that delay between shifts in S mode. M mode is far more responsive especially with the TCU.

Interesting you say that because if I drive in M mode and hit the button to shift the car doesn't actually shift for several hundred rpms after I hit the button. Like at the track I would want to shift around 6300rpms so I would hit the button before even getting to 6000rpms, it sucks how slow the transmission is. Faster times were had with it in S mode.

I would like to know as well.. does the shift feel stronger in S mode?
Also. how was removal / installation of TCU?
Is it hard to get to / remove?
What was turn aroung from EC?
I have been very tempted, but always seem to have at least one mod on the burner..

For those wanting to remove the TCU:
1. Remove Passenger floor mat.
2. Pull back on the carpet where the foot normally sits.
3. Remove black foam cover
4. Remove two 10mm nuts and pull the metal frame which holds the TCU out.
5. Unhook TCU (Black box that says Siemens on it) It has two connectors connected to it.
6. Remove two 8mm nuts holding the TCU.
7. Ship to Jerry.
8. Receive TCU in mail and do the reverse.
9. Enjoy your newly woken up beast!!

Is there a writeup somewhere on your website that describes this mod in more detail?
I'm having a hard time differentiating some of these terms, and which ones are included in different tuning packages you offer.

TCU tune creates a stronger (Harder) shift and higher shift point. Think "B&M Shift Kit" This is done on the TCU which is sent to EC (Picture provided in thread)
A compliment to the TCU tune is to increase your rev limiter to allow shifting to take place later in the power band and removes torque management. This is accomplished with an ECU tune. EC can do the complete ECU tune, or if you have a tune already that you are happy with, they can modify the file to change only the RPM, torque management.
I hope that helps. Two different tunes that go together like PB and J
