1954 Buick- MERCEDES Powered!
Hey guys, just thought this was pretty cool to share!
1954 Buick.....Mercedes AMG Powered!
Its a rare occassion that a car truely stands out and makes you do a double take when you see it. This 1954 Buick is such a car. The car was built and designed by Rad Rides by Troy in Manteno IL.
It made its debut at the 2011 SEMA auto show in Las Vegas.
So what makes this Buick so special? Its powered by a Mercedes G55 drivetrain! The experts at Rad Rides even went as far as to get the mercedes cluster and all the electronics to work, including the dash comand system! All in all there were over 8500 man hours into the build!
There was only one problem, the car wouldn't shift past 1st gear. Enter Eurocharged tuning.
A brief history of the car showed that they based the drivetrain off a G55 suv that they had in the shop that was totaled. All the electronics were completed, and the dash wasn't showing any CEL's or errors. It was then we learned they had swapped the rear end. We have delt with this type of change before so it was a relatively easy fix for us!
A few flashes with the Eurocharged custom TCU software and it was smooth sailing from here on out!
