B. Gorman installs a Diffuser and Lip for a friend (not wanting to again)!
So, I told my one customer/friend that I would install his front lip, wing, and diffuser on his E55 while it was at my house!!! He had already bought them (not sure from who).
Now, I like to do other peoples cars like I would do my own, which isn't always the most economical way to do things! Since this is my first time installing these parts on an E55..........I decided to be safe rather than sorry! I wanted it to fit as snug as possible, but also be removable/replaceable if ever damaged!
The fitment of the diffuser wasn't all that great on the edges, but it is what it is!!! Here is how I modified it and installed it!
Jack Nuts (epoxied in), set screws, and nuts:

Nice job and innovative using the threaded inserts Bill! You could have made you life easier with less fasteners and using:
Also if the lip was "open" in the middle you could have also used hollow aluminum sleeves to bridge the top and bottom sides of the lip and run a 10mm bolt through it to maintain the integrity of the lip.
Great job non the less.
I have seen lots of guys on here taking the easy way out by just using the 3M tape with self tapping screws (!), so neat to see that you used "proper" fasteners.
*Edit*** Just realized the lip was not "open" in the center, so understand your use of the threaded insert / jack nuts.

I can send you these...FREE!!!!
(4) New rolled step lips....1/2" wider in the rear!!!
(Then you can get them rebuilt locally)!!!
Just send me the ones on there back when you can....
or I can give you a few hundred back to compensate you for your time!!!
The reason I also apologized on the forum (as well as to you)...is because, as a sponsor on here, I feel that I have an obligation to my customers and members to exhibit a degree of public accountability (as all the sponsors should). I also thank you for being a total gentleman and not complaining on the forum (or really even to me for that matter)! In this my friend, you have been better than me (I'm just keeping it real)!
I do a lot of builds (too many at times), and as a "One Man Show" I sometimes also get overwhelmed, and in some cases fall short of the expectations of my valued customers (you all know who you are)! I would like to say that, no matter what, I always try to overcompensate and make it right in the end!
Again...a deserved explanation...but No Excuses....just keeping it real!
