Storing The E55 Winter...Questions

I put my car away for the winter. It's in my parking garage which is 60+ degrees all year. I am going to disconnect the battery to keep it from draining. Should I disconnect the one in the back and also the front?

Any other ideas of what to do besides throwing a cover on it and disconnecting the battery/batteries?

I would not store it

I would drive it once every 2 week or once a month around town to get it fully warmed. I think you do more harm to a car having it sitting for long periods. Tires get flat spot rust all over oil builds acids just drive it around keeping everything moving and lubricated.

I've been storing mine for 6-7 months for the last 6 years. I make sure that the fuel tank is full and add Stabil. Prior to entering storage I drive the car until it is at full operational temperature (this also gets the stabilized fuel into the rail and injectors. The car is placed on jacks, the Airmatic system is depressurized via STAR, a built in Schumacher battery tender is turned on and finally the car is covered. First battery lasted 6 years. Replaced it and the aux battery just to be safe. Never had a problem and my oil analysis is perfect. BTW synthetic oils do not form acid or sludge. Just my experience FWIW.

+1
I noticed cars that sit around for a long time end up having more problems then cars that are being driven more often.

I have stored cars this way for years, and never a problem with sitting for 6 months or so. I do not have the option to drive anywhere. You know, with the ice and snow.

I'm just going to disconnect the batteries and cover it. Flat spotting that causes permanent problems is myth with today's tires. And if they do get flat spots, they go away in the first few miles.

Absolutely correct. I will probably forgo the jacks this season. Old habits die hard.
