E63 Possibly Airmatic?
Hey guys, I know this topic has been discussed before, but seeing as how Im not very good with the parts I wasn't sure which thread answered my questions, what with all the different problems with the airmatic.
Basically I have a w211 e63, and something is wrong - I think its the airmatic. When the car is started, it the car rises a bit, and then the front right stops pumping and dips down to almost touch the wheel, so the car is unbalanced. Is that the airmatic pump?
Also, I have no warranty, and I saw some talk of changing coil overs instead as its cheaper?
Any suggestions please?

When you start your car, it should rise a little then settle. If one side or the other is drooping down, then yes you most certainly have an issue. I don't believe its the air compressor, as the car wouldn't rise after starting. I think you have a busted strut. Give Arnott a call, I think they sell for $450 per strut.
Good luck.

I live in Dubai so I would need to make an international order for these items. Imo best way to go around this is to take it to a private garage, let them take a look at it and if its the strut or the shock then if they want to charge me up the ***, I shall then order it. Once I have updates I'll post up, so if someone experiences the same maybe it'll point in the right direction. Thanks for the feedback guys!

64K just today...
ive had some bad luck with the car since buying it in feb had tensioner pulley break, aux battery go out, motor/trans mounts go out, rear airmatic failure and as of 2 days ago IC pump dying (sounds like a screeching weasel under the bumper lol).. got a new bosch one coming in today and will be installing it tonight
but i pretty much expected this when research the 55s and coming from audi b5 s4, i am used to things breaking lol
all i need to do now is have front airmatic go out and cylinder #8 go boom and then i will have gotten all the w211 psuedo-scheduled maintance outta the way

Its the front right, from what i gather its the link that choppo put up? just to confirm is that the shock absorber? because it says "air shock assembly", doesnt mention absorber.. Also, my front right has been down for a few weeks now as I was out of the country... could that affect the left one too over time (by adding pressure or something?)... if so and if arnott's is the part then maybe getting both the fronts would be more sensible?

yeah if its front then that link to arnott will work... and if you shop was quoting you $2000 for just one side then its not shock absorber as they are much cheaper... at $2000 quote you got it would be the full airmatic shock assembly with the air sping bellows which is probably $1000 for part and $1000 for labor at dealer... so if you get the arnott one and take it to the dealer it should save you $700 since (300 arnott + 1000 dealer install)... if you install it yourself then you save 1700
