Installing LED Strip lights above the fogs and other

I've had 3 different verions of the LED "bulbs" for the license plate lights. Each have worked well but after severals weeks or months the heat has taken it's toll on them and they start to fail. I even tried the LED with the heat sink thinking they would be better but also failed. Finally I have gone the route of the replacement LED housing. It's a PITA to get all the trunk liner apart but once in looks much better.

I just picked up some LED strip lights, and plan to install them above my fog lights. For the electrical inclined, how would I wire them? Would I cut the rubber hosing around the wire from the OEM fog lights, and splice in the new LED strip light wiring? This would be followed by eletrical tape to seal the bare wires back up
It says for install to JUST connect the positive and negative wiring to power outlet.
