Parent's E63 AMG victim of hit-and-run. Side mirror broken
Hello MBWorld,
As stated in title, our black 2010 E63 AMG passenger side mirror was damaged beyond use yesterday. The housing and mirror was broken. It looks as if a car hit the side of the mirror causing it to bend forward and break. My mom initially filed a claim with the insurance company for a hit and run, however, since the deductible is $1000 and we're not sure how this affects insurance premiums for the future, my mom is going to get estimates from her dealer/possibly other independent body shops if I find them on here/yelp on fixing the thing. I'm wondering if forum members could give me what a reasonable price would be to replace the side mirror and housing from a body shop.

If you can't get the part and fix it yourself, the best thing to do is to pick out a couple of good body shops, where you are, and get estimates. If you provide your general area, I am certain there will be a forum member or two here who can offer body shop recommendations.
If the repair cost is around a $1,000 or slightly over, it will be best to pay out of pocket. What you described may also be covered under collision without impacting your premium. Check with you insurance company. Either way, you have a high deductible. Your deductible amount may come close to or end up slightly less than the cost of repair. Then again, what appears minor on the surface with our cars can turn into expensive repairs.
