From member SGC in the CLS forum---- damn impressive for a 4000+ lb car that just came out. This one has a tune, exhaust, and LSD. I thought you guys would enjoy this knowing the E class is out and the M5 is lurking.

Amazing stuff going down at that Palm Beach, Florida dragstrip! And what is more amazing is this is not even in great weather since it isn't really cold down in south Florida with highs around 80 and lows in the 60s! Still launching off idle too and only pulling a 1.79 60ft and running a 10. Incredible.

Insane...Do you plan on giving your CLS the Renntech treatment, Vic? It's a no-brainer with the kind of numbers we're seeing right now...I wonder what LTHs are going to do once they are developed!

Don't forget this is a turbo car, so long tube headers don't exactly apply since it has turbo manifolds. Sure there could be slight improvements made using a tube turbo manifold if space allows and for the daring that go to straight downpipes with no cats that will uncork some power for sure.

Doesnt make sense to me why anyone would get one with the PP on it. Once a few tuners get their hands on these I'm sure they will be able to crank more boost out of the turbos for alot less $$$.

.
Does the PP add any other changes to the basic car, or is it literally just the extra boost?

I was looking into this you are able to get an upgraded LSD and upgraded brakes besides that more boost. I think thats why Renntech added a LSD to this car. So I would say buy the base E63 and hopefully Renntech is cheaper than getting it straight from Mercedes with the PP and LSD.

The PP uses the same boost as the Renntech tune (18.8 psi) but the Renntech tune runs the boost up at lower levels and tweaks the TQ settings to further the gains.
As for the PP package- its about 6k and it comes with the HP and TQ bumps, a Performance steering wheel, carbon fiber engine cover, and a much stiffer AMG suspension than the standard AMG one on the non PP cars.
Not everyone wants to tune their cars and take chances on a warranty issue when they can get a PP car with 550 hp and 590 tq and remain stock and warrantied. As for the LSD- the AMG option is great from the factory, its only 1700 dollars (cost) and labor isnt added since the LSD is built with the car.
I have the PP car and havent done the tune but love all the other parts of the package too including the suspension. Its a better suspension than the standard AMG one which I have on my w212 E63-- and of course its all relative to money one has and is willing to spend. Ill probably end up getting a tune done because speed and hp/tq is so addicting. But I love my CLS in stock format which is not something I have said for any of my current or prev cars.
