How to install front license plate bracket?

Ok...first off, I searched, I googled...lots of threads on this, but no stepxstep installation (that I can find) of this ugly thing going on the car

The dealer I bought my E55 from, drilled 2 NEW holes, for his "advertisement" plate, so now I have 6 holes!...I ordered a MB 211 bracket, but it came with no instructions...or even the friggin screws!

Can someone PLEASE give me the install procedure, with instructions?

Specifically...how/what do the "plastic hooks" attach? do I have to remove the bottom mesh?

Thanks in advnce for your help

Confused as to why you got a new plate bracket when one was already on there? Be sure you ordered the right part. w211 has different front ends (e55 and non e55 etc...) all factory MB front plate brackets are drilled into the bumper that I am aware of.

Get you bumper refinished, holes plugged and skip the front plate.

My answer was going to be a simple "don't".

Thanks for the replies...the car, when i bought it, "had" a front "dealer logo" plate just drilled onto the bumper. I removed that, and saw the other 4 holes (from what I assumed was the oem bracket).

Since the car did not have the bracket, and had the holes, AND that I live in WA where I will get pulled over for not having one (as happened in my Z06, I kept that in the front window), I ordered the bracket from a MB dealer, off my VIN...the part # 2118850881 does correlate to the AMG/E55 on my googling...I just need to see a diagram of something to understand how it goes on! I am not retarded (hope not, lol) but I don;t understand the stupid hooks, and where they go?

One of you guys MUST have put this on...please help, thanks!

The hooks are for a rg E class not the AMG. It is just held on with screws.

Car free at the moment
Dealer sold you the wrong part number. Correct front plate bracket for an AMG 211 is 211 885 17 81.

I agree...in Part, but the older I get, and the fact that I like to use my right foot, I don't need additional reasons for the locals to bother me (and in WA, they actively pull people over for no front plate)...besides, I have the HOLES!...now if I do a 63 front end...no way would "I" drill

As an update...I originally ordered my bracket online from MB of Medford Or. And once i informed them the part was wrong (thanks to Shadow5501) they apologized for the wrong item being sent, then informed me of the price increase of nearly $100 for the AMG part, stated that they would take care of me, and "ate" the extra charge, AND Overnite shipped the correct part, all on their dime...I AM IMPRESSED...pretty dang good service if I do say so myself!

A BIG Plus for Arch in Parts, and Mercedes of Medford (no affiliation what-so-ever)

kind off takes away a bit of the sting of this ordeal
