Replacing plugs and wires - where to buy?
My 05 E55 has just over 41K miles on it, I have owned it for about 8 months and put about 5k miles. My valve covers were leaking badly so I replaced them about 2k miles ago. My passenger side one was leaking much more than the driver’s side. It has a slight misfire at idle, much worse on a cold start. After it warms up it is not as rough but still doesn’t feel "right" to me. My first thought is to replace all of the plugs and wires and go from there, hopefully that corrects the mis fire. The car is bone stock but I plan on doing the stage 1 kit from eurocharged with a 180 mm pulley along with the upgraded intercooler and upgraded pump. If I am going to replace all of the plugs and wires I would like to upgrade them anticipating it being pullied/tuned by the end of March but want to take care of any issues before I start modding. I have read that many of you upgraded your plug wires to "evo sport". Where is the best place that I can buy the upgraded evosport wires and what is the best spark plugs for our E55's? I plan on installing them myself, which shouldn’t be too bad after reading the "how to" in our forum. I just want to find the best place to buy everything and make sure that they send me the correct parts. Thanks!

I recommend OEM bosch wires and the OEM NGK plugs. I think last time I bought a set was from rockauto.com. you can even google a discount code for another 5-10% off. I also recommend replacing the valve cover gasket while you're at it to save on labor. Parts are only another $30 or so.

Any benefit to change wires at same time if no misfire or issues?
Seems Bosch wires are the what most recommended, and they are less expensive that other options.
Anyone have a good source?
Advice?

Thats the stock heat range which is a LFR6AIX, You actually want a LFR7AIX which is a one step cooler plug. Anytime your adding over 75hp you should go 1 step colder is a rule of thumb. 150+hp more you will want to go 2 steps colder. The NGK number is 2309

thanks for all your input guys. after talking to e55amgrocket yesterday for a little I am going to go with a set of LFR7AIX with stock wires and see how she idles. The car has original wires but just broke 41k miles with no mods on it. I really think it is because of how bad the valve cover was leaking before I replaced the gasket and too much oil got on to 2 of the plugs. I will update after the new plugs are in and see how she runs. thanks again for all the help!

Be sure to spend 9 bucks at pepboys or something to get the spark plug boot puller. LIFE SAVER.
I just changed mine and after extensive research on the forum, the consensus was to go with the stock heat range if the car is not modified.

I got 1 step colder plugs from The local auto parts store. NGK-S Its always good to do that with modified cars especially. Good luck and make sure you are careful pulling them mine were as little bit of a pita on my 03 with 60k if they start to get tight coming out use some pb blaster and thread it in and out to work the penatrant in. also make sure you put some anti seize on the new ones for ease of removal down the road!

Where do you guys get your OEM wires? Rockauto no longer carries them. I found them at summitracing for 191.00 Anywhere cheaper? How much are they at the stealership?

Are you just replacing the wires for the sake of it or have you tested the resistance ? Seems odd to replace just because of age IMHO...But maybe this is a recommended MB item that I am not aware of...

I rather replace everything while I'm in there. I am changing the valve cover gaskets , plugs and wires to ensure to remove it as any issue. The supercharger clutch assembly is next
