If you already have COMAND, we would not advocate installing the COMAND PRO - but rather installing the accessories and options desired from our other products.
Cartronics I do not understand so much about electronic , but why a COMAND PRO is not going to fit in my S 430, 2001 ?

The video/airplay unit discussed above will work with the stock Mercedes COMAND. It will not require replacement of anything at all.

For adding amps - We have the mObridge DA2000 (DA2) that will allow a non-fiber amp to be put on the fiber network. We won't have more until March 1st though.

That is a D2B car, and we did not make a D2B compatible unit. Also we did not make a W220 sized unit. It is about the fiber optic system in the car AND the physical fit and finish.

.....just wanted to add that not developing the command pro for d2b cars might have been a mistake. It is those with the older cd based command navigation system that are more likely to want to upgrade. Those with MOST based DVD navigation system are unlikely to see the need....hence the slow sales you are seeing

We did look at that... the problem was the form factor and general problem of S Class owners as a whole not wanting to do anything to the car. I was an S Class owner at 35 for my first one, but historically speaking the S Class owner (remember as a whole, not individual cases - even these forums are not "typical" owners) is over 55. That group is generally not that interested in mods in general. The rest of the Classes are much different demographic.

......not to beat this topic to death but there are many d2b cars other than s430. All the W208 cars, the w210, the pre 2007 G class, the all the C32's, the pre 2004 C- class etc

But they are not the same form factor at all. They are not even close. Can't take a W210 radio and put it in a early W220 - not even close.

PLease let us know when you have the mObridge DA2000 (DA2) in.

Im looking into that plus maybe the XM.
Also if I were to do a Euro Command with DVD could I add the XM to that?
Since the US models have the SAT buttom and the Euro one doesn't?

We won't have the ability to report stock levels here - but you can sign up on our site.

Euro COMAND can not do SAT, BUT a US COMAND can get video on the screen from more modern sources, such as iPod, USB, etc etc. The DVD is going the way of the Dodo bird fast.

......I think we might be miscommunicating. Never said you could put a w220 comand into a w210. I am simply saying that making your comand pro for cars that don't really need it might have been a mistake. Making the command pro for the older d2b cd base comands would have allowed you to sell more if them. Don't know where u took this to mean that I was saying you can put a w220 comand into a w210. As for comands that interchangeable, the w210 and w208 share the same comand and w203 and the pre-2007 w463 share the same comand and are all d2b

Whoa.... I can do video in motion with a 2006 Command with one of your kits?

Would I still steering wheel control?

I'd trade that for it actually. What about streaming apps from an iPhone like pandora?

Yes you can do VIM on ANY mercedes from 2000 - current that has COMAND, and it has no effect on steering controls at all.

Ted- understood - that is why we are currently looking at a couple of solutions that will cost much less to develop. We should have a final decision in a couple of months.

Cartronics , as you see a lot of w220 owners ,like me and Ted, are interested to pay for a COMAND MOPF OR NEWER Version , COMAND MOST .
As I have been reading in this Forum , many w220 Owners , have installed the Comand 2.0 by themselves . It means that a lot are interested to install in they cars a later Version , with more Options and a better look.

Do not say that no much interest was in there .

We know there is interest, but as we have said before... the big problem is the sales price vs demand. We know the "low" number of units that need to be sold is at least 500 for the new system consideration. Those would all need to be sold within 1 year to make it a worthwhile investment. Otherwise, the sales price would have to be too high for numbers lower than that.
Believe me, we are looking very hard at this issue!

Hey,

Any update on this product? You'd mentioned a mid-March release date so I know it must be getting close!!!

Does this product have a name yet? I'd like to be able to search for it on your website, but I'm not sure exactly what you're calling it.

Thanks!

You guys do realize how bad mb Nav is and how much it costs to retrofit a car without command right? It's an easy 5k for OEM. This product looks miles better and is less than half the cost. I think marketing the device properly is part of the issue of the low sales. You should market it directly to dealers because MOST MB customers hate their nav systems and have money to throw around. Selling anything online is very difficult business, you want to target people that don't use the internet!

I installed a Comand NTG1 into a car that had Audio 50 for $350 installed. It was plug and play and did not require anymore wiring. This did not include navigation, but I was selling my navigation drive for $250. I also had NTG2.5 installed into my 06 E320 and it was close to $4k.
