This is it point blank... I have been a member since 2004, even had my own AMG forum that was #1 google search result for AMG forum and now own a local Boston forum. Want to start a forum? Go for it... You'll be another one in the long list of sites who have split. I visit the other sites to say hi to some friends on occasion... Always back here for model info

And, my point was; that is fine. There are thousands of threads praising tuners and vendors. That is not advertising.

The sig was advertising though.

It is not easy. That site has some sponsors too, now. Even with the amazing Admin skill that some of the founders posses, growth is slow. It will take years to develop a strong knowledge base at a new site.

But, as I said, I love to see people give it a try. There is always room for good competition.
Well said, I know that place.

Come on people. We live in a free market economy. Where else can you go to get all this free stuff and the only downside is some subtle advertising by paid sponsors?

Russia....geez.
Agreed, but I can't believe that you spent time explaining that, ignorance FTL and it is all over this board lately.

Can making fun of turdster really ever be a bit much. This clown has almost 300 posts, tons of thread starts, chimes in everywhere, requests stickies, and still drives a Mazda!

Yup. Even with this call-out to the ignorance squad, they continue to frustrate.

Y'all, if you are going to post, argue or insult, please learn to read and comprehend first.

Really? You've still got a grudge about a 3 year ago deleted thread, under a previous generation of staff member? (and, the founding owners still had admin capabilities)

That's rediculous, by the way.

Since everyone is offering their opinion, I'll chirp in. The with the business model of bulletin boards is that the content is 99% community generated. Not sponsor generated. The value if this site is the knowledge of the members, NOT the sponsors.

The reason sponsors are here is because of the traffic. The traffic is here because of the knowledge of the member base. The member base is here because of the other members... Not the sponsors.

IB doesn't make cars. They don't make anything. They lease done servers and have some php/mysql code monkeys to help keep things running and the site monetized.

If MB suddenly became illegal, this site would soon fail. But if this site were to become illegal, there would be a replacement tomorrow. Believe that.

That said, I respect adhering to the rules of the site. I don't like some of them, but I honor them.
