2005 E55 AMG
If it was a cold start up, timing is retarded to allow for higher exhaust temperatures to ensure quick cat converter light off. This could explain the flames.
It does look bad *** though.

Gotta love crazy gearhead things like this. Reminds me of an old 5.0 HO motor that I helped my buddy swap into an 87 or 88 thunderbird. Forgot what happened but the car was gonna get junked and we ended up firing it up with no exhaust at all. Open heads! lol Had 8 lil flames shooting out of the side of the motor. Fun times but don't do that to a motor you care about. lol

It is an internal combustion enine on cold start with open headers. Just thought it was a cool vid that people would enjoy so I posted it up
That is exactly what I said
Yup it was a cold start
It idles... LOUD haha. But other than that it idles fine. This car even has cams in it. We didn't drive it around yet. It is getting full stainless steel exhaust made. You drive around like that and the first cop within a mile radius will pull you over if you don't go deaf before that. It really sounds like a race car when its uncapped
Haha thanks. Must have been really cool to see each individual cylinder fire. This car has headers on it
It looked even better in person
She will run on the 18th
It is not literally right off the heads, hard to see in that vid but it has headers on it thats why the flames come from one spot, the collector.
Yea it's getting full SS tig welded up for it next. My CLK will be going under the knife for minor surgery in less than 10 days hopefully. Still waiting on a sleeved motor before things get crazy though

Very nice! I have to make it down to watch this and Jody make some passes.
From the sounds of it, this is a "full boogie" setup...can't wait to see what it lays down in the 1/4.

Dirt Scooters
I had 3 inch cut outs on my GTO and lost 14ft/lbs of torque and made 2 hp at 6700rpm. The hp graph was almost identical but the torque was down the whole way. I don't know if it's any different on a SC car.
