Aftermarket grills and distronic work together?

I was looking at a black grill on ebay to replace the stock one on the car. No ugly star or anything but it doesn't have the distronic solid portion at the bottom third or so of the grill. Will the distronic still function ok? Was also thinking of going the plasti dip route but that sounds like a pain.

I think the distronic will function ok still. The solid portion is a guard to protect your distronic radar. If something hits and damages the radar, then that can cost you some bucks.

Thanks T-Bone, that makes sense. The way this car picks up rock chips, I'm thinking I should consider something to protect that radar if I change grills.
