MBH Header Install questions
I hope to have a set of MBH headers and mid pipe here Friday to install on my 06 E55.
For those of you that have done this install what tips do you have for me and what if anything should I have on hand for the install, like new cylinder port gaskets and so on?
I have a ton of stuff on my plate and everything is time critical so I can get this and the rest of the stuff on the way installed before EuroCharge comes to DC for tuning.
Thanks!!

yea 8 exhaust gaskets.
if you get all four corners up it should take you about 2.5 to 3 hours. make when you take off resonators you remember which side goes on the left and right two different connections. you will know what I'm talking about when you see it. other than that its straightforward and easy.

Can you weld? Last time I installed a set it had to be welded in. you need exhaust gaskets and possibly the nuts if they are old and rusty. Where are you doing the install? If I'm free and you're close I can help

I had my MBH header and test pipe done last Monday. The 9 gaskets, copper nuts/studs are going to you out. Since i kept my secondary cats, it had to be welded to the test pipe. You will def enjoy the sound and response from the MBH headers.
Also search komp55 he had a good install post on it with part #s for the copper nuts, studs, gaskets too. You could also buy some O2 sensors to replace. I didnt.
BB- can you help me install my heat exchanger/pump??

If time is of the essence during the actual install, then I'd recommend having on hand eight new port gaskets as others have mentioned. I'd also suggest having new copper lock nuts and mounting studs on hand, too. When you remove the factory manifolds, many of the existing mounting studs will back out with the nut when the nut is loosened. You will save a bunch of time if you don't have to waste time holding the studs and removing the locknuts off of them. Even if you don't choose this approach, I would suggest installing new lock nuts, since they're not really intended to be reused. They simply don't hold as well once they've previously been used, and it's worth doing the install right the first time and not having to deal with potential leaks later.
You didn't say if you're installing high flow cats or not as part of your mid-pipe kit. If you are, plan on extending the wiring harnesses of your two downstream O2 sensors. I don't know if it's necessary or not if you've just going to use the "test pipe" sections with the O2 bungs. Those bungs may be located further upstream; I just don't remember. When you're in there working with the O2 sensors, keep in mind that the sensors with the black connector plugs are the upstream sensors, while the sensors with the dark tan colored wiring plugs are the downstream sensors. Don't reverse them during the install. If you need to extend the downstream sensors, by all means use the Bosch 15733 universal sensor kits, which have excellent connectors designed specifically for splicing the wiring harnesses. You'll need two kits to extend both sensors.
You will love the end result.

Good guess, but wrong. Running this Supersprint resonated X-pipe (which you can just see the inlet side of in the original picture posted):
Here's Supersprint's non-resonated X-pipe:
The resonated version is similar in design, but offers a more refined exhaust note. Both work extremely well.

did you end up passing emissions? I saw that you resolved the issues you had w/the O2 sensors. I'm over 320 miles since the header install and loving it. Emissions due 12/2012 for me.

I did. Sent you a PM on PS. Long story short, the garage that was doing some final CPO extended warranty work shorted out my downstream O2 heater circuits in the ME unit. After extensive effort to avoid doing so, they finally agreed to and replaced the ME unit at their expense and the car is perfect once again.

Just ask Jeremy for re-tune, it took him 5 minutes in my car to delete something in the program that eliminates the CEL. Running catless might be a challenge in VA to pass emissions.

I have NO CEL for 350 miles since the header install. I bought TTM's O2 bung extensions and worked based on Lowprofiles recommmendation. I did have Jeremy remote tune the car last Wed for the pulley/header.
