Hey guys -

I have a 2010 E63 AMG and I have a very strange noise on start up. It sounds like an airplane trying to take off as the rear air suspension loads up. Is this sound normal? It lasts for about 15 seconds and then never comes back until the next restart after the car sat for a bit. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

I wish I could help you but I can't. The thought of the E63 sounding like a jet trying to take off seems pretty spot on though.

There could possible be a leak somewhere that's causing that sound, but I would jack the car up and look around the air suspension and listen to the compressor.

I might be your air pump for emissions the motor. I had a similar noise in my 2000 e430 on start up.

This noise is definitely coming from the back of the car. Wouldn't the air pump be up front?
