Another keyless go thread ..

Yes, I have searched, too much I think at this point ! Unfortunately no results meeting with my issue. The symptoms ..

PTS is the worst .. works Maybe 40% of the time, otherwise 'key not recognized'.

Doors .. Seem to work Most of the time, maybe 85-90%.

Remote itself, as in standard keyless entry and Not as KG .. hit or miss. Has been better lately, but still has its moment of doing nothing at all.

The problems started about two weeks ago and have continued since with minimal improvement, but None with PTS.

Thoughts ? Please share. And no I am absolutely Not scared to tear into my car, that is what I do for a living ! Aftermarket and/or OE integration though - figured I would answer before someone asked why I can't figure it out.

I get the same PTS issue from time to time. Seems to come and go as it hasn't done it in a while. If I try to get in and start too quickly, it seems to give me the error more often. I don't know how fast the recognition process is.

Key fob battery is weak or you've got the fob in the same pocket as a cell phone. Also if you have a spare, see if that one works better. If same symptoms occur with multiple fobs, you should have the sensors checked out by an indy or stealership.

The manual says "do not put smart key near any cell phone" , had the same problem, read the manual, no problems since (it's only been two days, but still )

Check your battery in the key. The car will tell you usually when it is getting low

Ahh yes, forgot to mention .. batteries in the key are good. Checked em and even replaced em for the hell of it. Each are just a hair over 3V and brandy new.

The fob is on a keychain on the outside of my pants. Has been the same way for decades including the past year and half or so of owning this car. Cell phone - holstered and not quite near the fob, but again same as it always has been.

Had any work done recently on your sun roof or roof liner?
Tried a full reset by battery disconnect?
Have access to STAR?

No sir, none.

I haven't. Ironically whenever we change a battery or something like that we always throw on the trusty Snap-On battery saver. I can certainly give it a try.

I may have some available, but none here, no.

So last night And tonight went to the bowling alley (weekly leagues) and everything seemed fine, even PTS worked. Got out and could not lock the doors with fob or door button. Same for unlock, trunk, etc nothing was responsive to the fob at all and this was both nights.

On my way home I made a stop, yesterday seemed to be working fine again. Tonight, stayed 'dead'. Batteries in the fob are good, light Does come on when pressing buttons.

Is it possible something is just 'loose' somewhere ?
