some hit my rear...need advice

sorry, SOMEONE HIT MY REAR

Someone smacked my04 e55 in a parking lot yesterday...and just took off, no note no nothing...rear bumper cracked, impact strip and chrome totally smoked....
Just wondering what to do now...
call insurance? just fix it myself?
I have a e63 front bumper from gary Im about to put on.....now i'm thinking to just convert the rear bumper also.
Has anyone done this? what parts are involved? parts.com? gary? any leads....
thanks for the help guys...

What's your insurance deductible? Very likely, it will not be worth it to claim insurance since it will be a collision claim.

No idea on the swap costs, sorry!

If it was a hit and run, you should probably go get a police report immediately. You don't know if there is any damage you can't see and the repair bill could run up pretty quickly. USAA waived my deductible when this happened to me a few years ago - maybe your insurance company would do the same.

Depending on your insurance, if it is a hit/run most will treat it as No Fault and no deductible for the repairs.

If it was me, I'd put in a claim. If your bumper is cracked, it should be replaced, not repaired. Your body shop should be able to get you the 63 bumper that you want at little to no cost for you.
If I can offer any advice, feel free to call/PM me, I'll be happy to help.
Good luck!

none
Ive had hit and run and had to pay a deductible because ive claimed it under my collision policy.
However......
If you have uninsured motorist coverage, it should cover this damage. While there is not a deductible, per se, for this coverage, an insured is usually required to pay 'the first $250' in damages.

Additionally, because it was paid under Uninsured Motorist coverage, it will be clear to any potential NEW carrier when you shop for new insurance, that this was NOT an at fault accident.

What side?

The bumper might be fixable and I have a spare rear bumper impact strip.

I'd stick with the 55 rear bumper. More diffuser options available and plus it looks almost the same anyway.

Any chance that there were any cameras mounted for the parking lot or nearby where the hit might have been captured on film?
Probably someone texting and not paying any attention. Would be nice if you could catch the person. Probably did some damage to their car as well.
Good Luck in getting your beast back to perfect.

Just claim the insurance and it should not increase your cost next year since its hit and run. For a real bumper and painting, this will be at least $3K in Canada. While you have the car in the bodyshop, do the front conversion !

Sorry to hear bro but one thing I'll mention as a response the E63 conversion keep in mind there isn't a rear diffuser out there yet for that bumper so you might want to factor that into your decision. Hope all goes well. I got rear ended earlier today as well.
