Good point, I didn't think about it. But I go to car wash once in 4-5 months, usually just wash it my self. By looking at all the posts in this thread, looks like it can happen with any brand of tires. I have 285/30/19 on the rear and change tires every 16 months, those tires lasted less than a year

Glad you are safe and didnt damage the car to a wall or anywhere else. Mang you need to hand wash that car :-)....They still put the car on a track to push the car thru the car wash?? If i dont hand wash i do the cheapo sunoco brushless wash with no track to push the car.
I think w/the car lowered and rear camber promoted the quick demise of the tires.

Great news that you are OK. That exact thing happened to my right rear a few months back. Bridgestones. Inside tire was shredded.
When the Buckhead MB roadside tech came, the first thing he said when he removed the tire and inspected it was to tell me to never go into sport mode 2. He said that is the fastest way to shred a tire. Extreme neg. camber.
He recommended staying in C like many of you have said.
Lucky for me, I was just heading out of a parking lot when I heard the dreadful sound !! Can't imagine having it shred at speed.
Neg camber is great, but at a steep price.

The lip as pictured looks curbed all of the way around. I have blown tires before and never damaged the side of the lip like yours. Curious if the tire is a result of what also damaged the lip.

I noticed the same thing and you may want to have all your rims checked out. Glad you & your car is fine. I've went through 3 sets of hankoks with no problem other then excessive wear on the inner part of the rear tires. All chamber issues (also same as on original factor tires as well). Mines aligned as yes as could be without putting on a chamber kit.

Not just that but it also looks like something has been rubbing against the tire for a while. Maybe it is the picture or my monitor but it looks like the manufacturers markings are almost rubbed completely off.

I think most everyone has some significant negative camber...putting alot more weight on one of the sidewalls. The extra weight combined with some rubbing, impact, etc. on the innside of the tire could definitely to blame. Of course it could still be a bad tire from the factory.

The groove adjacent to the torn section indicates the tire rode on that sharp lip thus resulting is a blowout. Tire might have been losing air coupled with negative camber and a sharp lip edge would explain the tires damage. Does not appear to be a Hankook issue, just circumstances.

took a picture with an iphone, so quality is not the greatest. Let me take grab a camera tomorrow to take a picture. I don't know the production date of the tires, but I bought them from Tirerack on 5/25/11
