Now That I Drive Thor's Hammer - Where Do I Go From Here With My Next Car
Odd post I know, but now that my E55 is just a beast (see video below in my sig), and it's faster than I'll really ever need, where do I from here for my next car?
This is kind of a serious question actually.
My E55 has 68K miles on it and I'll keep it long past 100K miles but I'll probablly need another lower mile 4 door performance car. I'm married, 42 a Software Executive with 3 young kids. (1.5, 3 & 5).
At the crank I'm currently near 700 ft/lb and 630HP and I know there are faster E55's out there, but I really feel I don't need anymore power/speed because what I have now barely keeps me out of trouble.

I've begun looking at my next car which has to be a 4 door sedan but where do I go from here? I guess an S65 is next but my E55 will probablly run with it to 100MPH (?) and from there I'll just get in to trouble on a public road so if you were me, what should I save for to buy in about 1-2 years time that will somehow be better/faster/more unique than my E55?
Seriously I think this car has runied me.
(It's a good thing mind you), just not sure what's next.Again silly question I know, but I can't be the only person who has an E55 thinking this?
Thanks for your advice as always!

She likes comfort and so she also daily drives a Chrysler 300 V6, as she want better gas mileage.I took her to dinner Sunday night as a late valentines day present and she was saying she get's 25 miles per gallon with her 300. I said..."Dear that's nice but I get 25 SMILES per gallon with my E55."

Oddly she didn't see the humor in my remark.
Anyway thanks again guys, I AM keeping the E55 forever basically but I'll check out the CTS-V. With a pulley and tune I think they can be 600 HP at the wheels which is great!

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Keep it and step up to a weekend fun car. GT-R, 911, ZO6 etc...
I'm a bigger guy, 6'2 240 lbs (all muscle mind you)
so having a bigger car would be nice.So not sure still thinking about this!

Thanks again.

Read some of the long term wrap ups on the CTS-V before you buy. Typical GM, unfortunately, plastic rattles, strange whirs, buzzes, clicks, basiclaly same thing they say about the ZR-1. The only good part of either car according to some people is the drivetrain. I'm all for fast, and they are, but the car quality itself is terrible.
I thought I'd share a good quote on this topic. (Alexander the Great)
"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer."

Thanks again!

There may be other 4-door options out there, but they are only "different" not necessarily any "better".
My suggestion to "go weird" still applies.... don't even try to find something that competes with the E55, just get something with a completely different vibe and attitude and you'll appreciate it's uniqueness.
(This presumes that you are keeping the E55, and adding something else to the stable...)

Pretty much a great sales pitch for Diesel right there.
