Quote: Same as underlord. Golf tdi here... 80-mile commute with 45mpg - aggressive driving still got me 43mpg; easy driving 48.7mpg record so far. Can't beat that. Resale value is also crazy good where in ca.
Yup! Kbb used value is more than I paid brand new!

Quote: I have racked up 37,000 miles on my '06 E55, thanks to the fact that I'm in the city and never need to drive. However, the little lady and I we're looking to buy a home in the burbs and am thinking that I need the finest cheapest car I could find with decent mpg.

Just curious, do any of you have beater-commuters? I was thinking some cheapo old car, maybe a 90's accord or something.
97 honda accord my pride and joy lol has 235,000 miles on it and still gets me over 360 miles per tank . best car to own imo never breaks down great gas mileage and i even leave the doors open with out any worry sometimes lol.

Quote: I used to drive round trip 80 miles per day with my 745Li that I had. Too much trouble with that car, sold it and got W210 E55. And now I only drive 2 miles a day since office moved to 1 mile from my house. You know, W210 E55 is actually very fun to drive, enough torque and weight less than W211. Very reliable and good MPG. Freeway 25-26MPG, city depend how i drive........ Other E55 for commute is not bad idea at all !
man do i miss my W210 one of the best M.B's built, love the look and feel of that car. Took that thing cross country without one mechanical issue car is a tank and a true timeless classic.

Yup, its really timeless and more comfortable for long drive. I find W210 leather is much smoother. Most of people have W210 then get W211. I did the other way, W211 for 2 years then add W210. And its still pretty fast car !

I had a 96 E320 years back, and thinking back I hated that car.. Something always seemed to be wrong and the styling just looks so outdated to me now..

2010 Prius

Decent NAV, sound system with bluetooth audio and 50MPG all day.

A good contrast to my E55, and after driving the Prius for two years I can get my E55 to an indicated 22MPG haha.

My previous daily was a E36 M3 coupe, and I actually don't miss it.

96 is the first year of W210. They did some changes in 2000 and 55AMG got some nice front and rear bumper + side skirt. Interior leather is completely different much smoother and also with black maple trim.

no offense but cant compare the 96 to a 2000 to 02 models i loved my w210 infact if i didn't total it i would for sure still have it. That car has a true drivers feel to it good power good handling and great looking car imo. I had header k&n filter crank pulley and 2nd cat and resinator removed and it moved pretty freakin good i also had it lowered on H&R's and handling was pretty nice in that car probably better then the W211.

Yup, can't agree more. Its handle better than W211 and 2000+ is very different than 96 to 99. AK was comparing with 320 and we are talking about 5.4 engine here with AMG look.

2004 996 Turbo X50

Hey, I enjoy it My round trip was about 35 miles, in Iowa, through rain, sleet and snow and this car got me there every day.

Now we're moving to Florida and it will be about 12 miles round-trip, with the top down almost every day.

I love this car. It's as nice to drive as anything i've owned & it's 43 years old with 70,000miles, all original.

I just finished pads, rotors, shocks, springs & a custom stereo run off an ipod so the dash is all original.

I've never had a car get me so many thumbs up.
