Ported Cams

I read in another thread how some of you have ported cams? Can someone chime in on just exactly what is meant by ported cams? And, how much power resulted therefrom? Thanks ahead of time.

I think your reading ported heads with cams. I have my own ported heads and PTE cams. There's no such thing as ported cams.

+1 MILLION with OP. Guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag.

Those cam bumps are friggin horsepower killers!!!

Been running these cams which we ported the hell out of them and we gotta be talking 50wheel minimum with EACH cam.

Not sure what the hell they were thinking with those lumpy friggin things. Never flow benched um but they gotta smoke!

Group buys coming up!

LOL....Ok, I have to laugh at myself for that one. Believe it or not, my question was a genuine one. I thought I read somewhere the words "ported cams" and it did puzzle me, so I was genuinely asking the question.

Given everyone's response so far (which is cracking me up!), I guess I misread and misunderstood "ported cams."

Moderator, have mercy and lock this thread!...PLEASE!

The E55 has double valve springs that are much harder to push open so you get double the horsepower on these motors, 100 wheel HP per cam!!!

Next time you ask about ported cams don't forget to use ALL CAPS!

It makes your question sound more intense and angry.

Ported cams do nothing compared to changing out the headlight fluid. The mercury fluid they come with stock is so heavy, I switched it out for this and not only gained 4 MPH in the quarter but a better F/R wieght distribution as well! Win Win!

Ported cams are almost as important as the flux capacitor mod.

Ported CAMs damn Cams

Well It really is not a bad question . There are a lot of new terms & Acronyms , I had to learn about 8 years ago. IE : BTW , LOL, WTF.The Wood- Chucks next store ( kids ) Keep me tuned up in that language. Funny they do not know what a RCH is. Well yet , I let it slip out once or twice. Told them it was a Replaceable combustion Chamber Head for a 2 stroke engine. Can you imagine what has been said at the dinner table from todays lesson in shop talk at PTE home garage
Oh Well , back to the ported cams. In the old days we could get blue printed cams that measured out in the block , but they did not come from Ford or GM. They got smart to us , made me pull the cam & they look for the numbers which were not THERE I got thrown out & disqualified a few times. But That was racing, we read around the rule book.
Cheers _PTEngineering
