Does anyone have an idea what this rattle noise might be? its coming from either dash area or engine compartment close to dash. sounds like old school speedo cable gear spinning broken, but our cars dont have speedo cables.

Also i took out the instrument cluster and drove the car without it as well and still get the same noise so i know its not the cluster.

I only get the noise when the car is under load light acceleration. It does not happen if i rev the engine in neutral or park.

i had similar noise in my audi once and it was because the hood latch cable came loose and was hitting the fan, but i checked that on the e55 and hood release cable and latch are all intact.

its driving me nuts and run out of idea... anyone else had this noise before or any ideas?
