It does appear that the new 7 speed transmission is coming to the US in the '04 E500. Has anybody heard if the E55 is getting the new transmission and if so when?

Like the current 5speed, a special version which was developed for the V12's has been used by AMG. The standard version does not have the torque capacity for the new gearbox. I have heard that they are developing a stronger version, but there is no official word as yet about availability.

correct, just ordered my '04 E55 today and no one knows about the 7G. Rumor has it that it will be added at the next engine update which could be a 32 valve 5.5 liter in MY '05 or ?????

pick up the July Car magazine, p 18-20, they lay it all out. The next AMG E will be a normally aspirated 6.3L motor making 600HP, in 2006.
