Red battery/visit workshop
What can cause the red screen with the battery sign and visit workshop display?
I thought it was the battery, switched both the front and rear out with brand new batteries but the red display is still there.

Just 2 weeks ago I had to replace my secondary battery because of the same red warning described in this thread. It was an $80 battery at Pep Boys. Make sure you properly prep and charge the battery before installing it. I had to trickle charge mine for 8 hours before putting it in.

I got into the car today and no A/C.. then got the "Battery Protection" conven. features turned off warning... was told by the indy over the phone it's most likely the aux battery so I replaced it. That wasn't it and I got the red "BRAKE" screen and my brakes actually pretty much went out about a mile from home on my drive home.. as I was pulling over on the freeway the red light went off and I had brakes again so I got her home. I also got the "low voltage" screen on the command screen. Might just change out the rear battery and go from there but from those symptoms, especially the "low voltage" on the command does that mean voltage reg or alt? Thanks.

can you get a volt meter and see if its charging at idle. should be over 12vdc. I know I thought i had an issue with my alt and volt reg, but it was only that i don't drive the car long enough to charged the battery after working on it. my drive to work is less than 10 mins so it would not get a full charge. i bought a charger and charged both batteries up and not problem since then. if you need a voltage reg i can sell you mine its a BNIB Bosch. $60 with shipping.

OK, so I used my torque program to check voltage both with the car in idle and at 2,000 plus rpm's and it's always 11.8-12.1 volts. I guess I'm not charging hence the "battery protection" mode. So before I replace the rear battery, I guess I have to figure out if it's the volt meter or alternator. Any way to check this at home? Might just start with a volt meter and go from there since the rear battery seemed like it took a charge with the over night trickle charger.. any advise is appreciated. Thx!
