2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Tuned by Lingenfelter Runs 10-Second Quarter Mile

Well that was fast. Lingenfelter Performance Engineering needed just two weeks to accomplish a quarter-mile time in the 10-second range in a 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1.

Lingenfelter provided a drag slip showing the numbers put down by their tuned Camaro ZL1. That slip reveals a quarter-mile time of 10.79 seconds with a trap speed of 134.36 mph.

The tuner says modifications were completed two weeks they got their hands on a 2012 Camaro ZL1. The LPE-tuned ZL1 features a Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft, CNC ported cylinder heads, modified supercharger pulleys, and a custom air intake. The car ran on 109-octane race fuel and rode on Nitto NT05R drag tires. All told, the mods equate to 720 hp at the wheels. From the factory, the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 produces 580 hp at the crank. Lingenfelter offers a number of upgrades that boost those horsepower figures anywhere between 630 to 700 hp.

“Our team set a goal to be the first 2012 ZL1 in the 10s, and we are very proud to achieve that goal thanks to our diligent LPE engineers and their intimate knowledge of LS engines,” said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

It's pretty sad that the camaro weighs just as much as a CTS-V sedan, but they do look sick. LPE seems to have put a pretty penny into the car to do a 10 second pass...I dunno if I'm impressed as of yet. Although 134mph is pretty quick that's for sure.

My sentiments exactly, a car with that sort of RWHP ought to be capable of low 10's at the track, high 9's with the right driver and suspension/tires.

There are barely over 600whp CTS-V's running mid 10's, so this is not a great indicator of the platform capability. There are several 7-800whp V's running into the 9's so is there are doubt at the potential? Also Pulley's, CAI, Cam, Tunning = 600whp for about the same cost as the tune on on TT63 cars.

pretty impressive considering it took them only 2 weeks to take its from stock 12.1 to 10.79 at 2500 DA track with just some bolts on's and porting of the heads...

not to mention they were at 104.16 at the 1/8 mile mark
