Need help on purchasing an E55
Hey guys,
I know I've made one of these threads before, but this one is a rare one. I have my eyes set on a 2004 Black/Black E55 with every single option... I'm talking:

So what do you guys think is reasonable? I didn't really want to purchase one with this many miles, but it's rare that you find one with all options (especially solar panels). I was thinking around the lines of 22-23k?

all those options will cost $$ if you have no warranty- if you can swing a 2 or 4-year warranty at that price - jump on it, otherwise they're too high

The dealership told me that they'd let it go for $23,645 by the end of today.. I'm sure they have to meet some sales quota for the month, so that's most likely why. This is without any negotiation of my own... we're currently discussing warranty right now and they said they'll get back to me today about an exclusionary warranty through Continental.
Any thoughts?

What is more important than the mileage is the service history.
I am not talking about oil changes. There are items on these cars that need attention after 60,000 miles (sometimes sooner).
Have the following been done:
New motor and transmission mounts
New plugs
Both fuel filter/senders replaced in the tank
New crank position sensor
Has the transmission been flushed and filled
All of the above should most definitely be done at any mileage higher than 60K (imo)
Also a few thing to inspect:
Is the rear main seal leaking at all
Are the valve covers leaking
Are there any outstanding codes in Star (especially for airmatic and transmission)
If I was looking to replace my E55, honestly I would be looking for one with somewhat higher mileage, that has all the required work already preformed. This can save you literally thousands over a "clean" car with less mileage that does not have a solid service record.
Don't get me wrong, these cars are not problematic or troublesome...just a $100K high performance car that requires some specific maintenance.
Good luck with your search!

Mileage should not be a concern as mentioned, a stout maintenance history is a major concern though. Also, with that many options, rest assured it will be heavy to maintain that car in the future so if options are a must, try and get a warranty, if options are not that important, I would keep looking.

The options that I am particularly interested in is dynamic seats and keyless GO. The iPod hookup in this E55 was a plus too as I use my iPhone in my current car all the time. The solar panels is just a baller / really rare feature in general... I wonder how well it actually works.

i would look for a lower mileage one ... but if its mint then whatever.
make sure all the options are in working condition before buying.. everything is expensive on this cars.
keyless go door handles check all of em. front ones usually die quick and power trunk dies too.
