function surround lighting??

In my W211-E55, while programming the various options in the menus system, in the lighting section, there is an option for function surround lighting. I could not figure it out what that is all about. The owners menu is no help either. Anyone out there know what function surround lighting is??

I believe it's the lighting level for the "environmental lighting" (for the console, door handles, etc.). There are also buttons in the back to adjust the lighting for the rear seat area.

I don't think so, because for those it is under ambient lighting. Also its not for the entry and exit lights, those are under convenience lighting

I checked in my car and have the same option in the lighting submenu, and it's set to on! On page 140 of the operator's manual, this function is described under "setting locator lighting." During darkness, when this is set to on, and your exterior lamp switch is in the auto position, the parking, tail, license plate and front fog lights turn on when you unlock the car with the remote, so you can easily find your car in a dark parking lot.
