This must be one of the first 722.6's to let go. They are damn stout tranny's and are basically bullet proof.

...sort of. Can the transmission internals like the gearsets be replaced with stronger ones. What about say Titanium and also lighter stronger parts to reduce drivetrain loss.

I wonder if there are others that have blown the tranny but not posted about it. I've always read that the trannys are good up to 1000HP, but perhaps this is not the case?

Yup, I had been told the same thing, 1000hp...

It's a sucky situation but RBJ is cool about it, still has the sense of humor

Guys always check your tranny fluid every 6 months, make sure it's still clean especially is you drag it, told to me by a master tech

The 722.6 and nag1 from the srt are basically the same with some minor differences. There's a reason why they build them. Nothing is bullet proof unless it says bullet proof loll

Can it be done? Sure. Is it worth the money? No

We are already in contact with paramount performance. Valve body, tq converter, and tranny will probly just get sent to them.

I agree with this post. Be smart if you want to get away with something like sticking it to Mercedes or a warranty company
There's pictures of this guy (RBJ), there's posts of him describing what he looks like, there's posts made of how he tracks the car and mods it. All of that could potentially be used against him. I hope he gets this resolved without breaking bank, it's not my business, but you never really want bad news about an AMG. Good luck with everything, but remember...Silence is Golden

Since you still don't get what I've been trying to tell you: I don't care if you attempt to get your transmission replaced under your GMPP warranty. If it gets approved, I'm sincerely happy for you to not have to come out of pocket. However, since the warranty repair would likely be denied by GMPP as falling outside of their coverage parameters if they knew of your full and accurate mods and usage history, the smart move would be to keep this entire matter between you and your dealership service contact... before, during, and after the repairs. By the way, you could still salvage that somewhat, by requesting that a mod/admin delete this thread for you (I'm pretty sure they still accommodate that sort of thing).

Going online and boasting about this (put the car back to stock and try to get one by on the warranty company), on the largest and most heavily trafficked Mercedes forum, can't help you in any way whatsoever, but it can hurt if the wrong person/people come across your posts, do a little digging and put two and two together for who you are, which E55 this is, what corresponding warranty request was submitted, etc. Plenty of guys have inadvertently, willingly provided all the rope needed to hang themselves on issues like these, which is what I was trying to clue you in on - if you're planning on doing this, you might want to reconsider posting about it.

Last post, promise. I'll go scurry off to 6speed and leave you big boys alone.

Current 2014 Maserati Quattroporte and 2017 GLE 63 AMG retired 2007 E63 AMG
for what its worth, my '07 63 is down right now with a k1 clutch pack failure. they said they are using a new upgraded replacement and will also upgrade the b3 while they are in there.
They havent started work yet so i havent seen exactly what these new upgraded parts are but will repost when i do.
Just waiting on the aftermarket warranty guys to give approval.
44,500 miles only on the car...
the last 8k (since i owned it) rather spirited miles and they swore this was a definitve parts failure and hard driving had nothing to do with it.

The E63 has 7 speed tranny, very different from E55 5speed. Sorry for your tranny and failing at 45K miles is just tranny bad component quality.

While Ti is lighter than steel it's not stronger than steel and it's a spring metal. In order to make a Ti part stronger than steel it has to be larger than the steel part

If so don't worry about it. It is machining swarf from original build shocking as it may be. Worry about heavy magnetic steel deposits on the magnets.
I think I can see part numbers on those flakes

So what about the gearbox casing, can that me made in a different lighter material and I don't mean should it or is it worth it, I mean can it be made in a lighter material and how much would it cost?

Have you found out what caused tranny to go?
How does fluid smell or is anything in the fluid?
Listening to the run I didn't hear anything strange it might be a good idea to find out what happen so it doesn't happen again.
Maybe not to you but to others

I did NOT hear, feel, or see anything. But I will be opening up the tranny on Tuesday. I will take pics of everything so that every one can see what went wrong. And we will detail what we do to beef it up.
