Can't figure out why my stereo stays on when key is off and out. Anyone know why? Just started happening today

weird. you'd think when the head unit was shot that it would not turn on, not refuse to turn off. those silly *** krauts and their crazy engineering.

the same thing used to happen with an aftermarket pioneer DVD I had in my old car. If I unplug the battery, is there any start up issues I might have when I reconnect the battery?

Ok. It's back to normal again. The only thing I did was put the key in opposite the way I typically do ("upside down" if you will) and while I was driving around, I held the power button down for about 15 - 20 secs while the stereo was off. Now it's fixed.

Let me ask you this, when you are in the car and it is turned on, does your volume control button on the head unit control volume like it should?

When you turn it to the right does it get louder, and when you turn it to the left does it get quieter? My volume control botton started malfunctioning, and after that happened, the radio started turning on by itself once I was out the car and it was locked. I just pulled all the speakers, fibre optics out, and installed a whole new system.

Do you have Keyless go? Mine actually did this when I first got the car. When I get out of the car, radio would still be on for some reason? I just took the unit out and unplugged it and reconnected. Been fine since than

I have keyless go, i think, but I dont know how to make it work. I've got the button on the shifter for it, but when ever I push it, it never works. IDK.

your supposed to hold down the brake....I think Keyless might be setting it off.

Key has to be with you and not in the same pocket as a cell phone. If you don't hit the brakes while pressing the "on" button, your dash should still light up as doing this puts you into Accessory power mode.
