Audio and Navigation Improvements

So I have been looking at how to improve to what I believe will be my biggest issues with the e55, the GPS and sound/speakers. I have read that the speakers are good, they just need a good sub to wake them up. Also, I have found a new head unit I want to give a try that would fit like OEM.

For all of you Audio Gurus, would this work? And fix the problems with the sound as well?

I would be going with this head unit (I know not what everyone loves, but please do not make it about this)

and to improve the sound would be getting a JL "PowerWedge" fill the need at subwoofer?

I figure that will be easy, and all in one package, leaving only the other speakers at this point. Would I need another amp to power these? Would I be good with the new head unit? Or should I just get one amp to run both the sub and all speakers? Would I need something as well? Or is this unnecessary?

You should be very cautious buying that head unit. A former vendor on here, CarTronics, sold similar units and admitted that they did not produce better sound and many of them are unreliable.

What year is your E55?
