I kept getting the check gas cap light, so I bought a new gas cap. Still got the message. Took it to the dealer and they said I had a bad charcoal canister. So they replaced it, all under warranty. Haven't had the message since. I hope that helps.

I had the same problem on my car, really pissed me off. Took it into the shop about 4 different times and they continued to charge me to diagnose it each time I went in. they were wrong every time and never found the fix.

I believe what fixed his car was a charcoal canister shutoff valve. I'm sure he'll chime in. Also if the new valve requires a adaptor harness (some do) check the wiring of the harness. A batch of them were wired incorrectly from mb and it swapped the two wires. the wire colors would stay in the same pins if that makes sence.

Yes Ion is correct charcoal canister/gas vent valve canister i guess u can call it either/or. Very very simple fix its right next to the driver side head light i belive 2 vaccum hoses & a electrical connecter. Part cost me i belive anywhere from 60 to 80 bucks. Put it in like 5 mins reset my ecu with my scanner and problem solved. But before u do that check your evap hoses that go to the canister valve they may be broken or disconnected. Hit me up if you need anything else.

I was thinking of the wrong valve. The under hood valves official name is the "purge valve" damn US fuel vapor emmisions it is a easy DIY job
