Most room for the driver
Hi
I am considering purchasing a used E55 (W211), SL55 (R230) or a CL55. Would anybody know which of these cars has the smallest space for the driver and which has the largest space for the driver?
I have driven a 2004 CLK55 but find them just a little too small for me in the drivers seat (yes I am a big guy).
regards,
OZZYAMG

I would say that the CL has the most upfront room. It's basically like sitting in an S Class up front.
I believer the E has more room in the front than an SL, especially if you have to tilt your seat back like \_. The SL has no back seat and you hit the bucket after not extending too much.

I'm 6'5 270 pounds and find many cars cars feel cramped often. The E55 has PLENTY of room for me though. Especially headroom (I have the pano roof) which is a big concern for me. Overall the car is a lot less wide then say my fathers Cadillac Deville, but Mercedes dida fine job making the space seem larger then it really is. I'm often looking around wondering how the the car seems so roomy (especially the trunk) considering the ovrall size of the car.

I'm gonna have to find one to sit in. I was thinking about a CL600 as a possible eventual replacement to the E55.

Keep in mind the CL600 is going to be about 5x more expensive to maintain than the E55 due to the coil packs and ABC suspension. However, for the money and if you can do your own maintenance/repairs, the CL600 is a very good deal. The 1000 hp speedriven kit looks like it would be fun.

I am only 5'11. But I am close to 350pounds! And even though I am under 6 foot tall I find headroom as well as hip room a major factor when getting into cars.
A mate purchased a new C63 and I had no way of been a passenger in it, let alone getting a drive of it.

If it wasn't for ABC I'd be in a CL S or CLS right now probably.

While the coil packs are ridiculously expensive I could swing a grand a side if needed. The ABC suspension is what has me on the fence though. Those crazy stories of the system getting contaminated and one part after another failing with the price tags on those parts is scary!

CLS uses the airmatic suspension. It's got issues too but no where near the problems of ABC.
