Gas Pedal Push Button Toggle - Purpose ??

From: PHX/PIE/OMA ---> Yes, all three
E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Gas Pedal Push Button Toggle - Purpose ??
Me & my friend each have 05 E55's.
On his car (but NOT mine) - underneath the gas pedal itself, on top of the base of it securing to floorboard - is a circular button that loudly "clicks" when you push it in or out...

Please explain, thanks

Kick down switch. If you push down the pedal without clicking it, she boooooooogs.

i'm surprised it's not managed by the TPS, seems so archaic to use a pushbutton... no wonder the car bogs when I expect it to kick down

thank God for shift buttons

Actually it's great once you learn how to use it. Not always do you want it to kick down to the lowest possible gear.

I've rented a few cars in Europe while on vacation and from what I remember they all had this lil button thing when you really floor it.
