Flex pipes; Instead of 1st Cats?
First, I had a friend with full Supersprint headers + no cats & resonators but retained OEM mufflers... I thought the sound was decently tame until he floored it... So, this mod should not be annoying for me.
I was just curious about shopping for flex-pipes. Seems like a good idea for our torque monsters... I also figured using slip-ons will be an easy DIY. I can just cut off the CATS and slip-on and clamp the flex-pipes.

Is this really as easy as that??? what diameter flex-pipes should I be shopping for? 2 3/4 inch??
Any feedback would be appreciated.
So it must be better to have flex closer to the headersSmooth pipe = performance (almost none lol)
Flex = safety (free of mind)
So, what is the diameter of the piping? I dont think its 3 inch.. 2 3/4 or 2 1/2 is my guess..
Like I said I want to pick up some flex pipes probably order from Summit. Cut out the Cats = slip and clamp
D= 2.8inches 'outside edges' --So, 2 3/4 inch piping...
Right before the cat the piping expands C= 11 inch, D=3.5inches 'outside edges'..
So, I guess the best option would be to cut where its 11inchs -- slip 3inch flexpipes into the piping til it hits the taper into 2 3/4 inch -- and clamp it down -- Seems like it would make a good sandwhich -- will this work?
Or must I ditch the slip-on bolt down flexpipe idea and get a muffler shop to weld it?

Only regret: should have had all the cats and res deleted @ the same time--- would have saved some money.
