What do you guys think about these eBay headers?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-E55...b413dd&vxp=mtr

Was looking at the EC Long Tubes but not sure if I wanna deal with the hassel of not have the primary cats and clearence issues. Also do you guys really believe headers = require a tune? I would think thats a little excessive.. But Ive been wrong before. What do you guys think I should do? The stock ones gatta go.. Talk about breathing through a straw..

If your talking about the EC Long Tubes.. Nothing, just my preference, I wanted to stay away from any ECU tunes (with the primary cats being deleted by their longtubes, im assuming they need to do something with your ECU to get rid of the CEL) and also It looks like theres cutting and possibly clearence issues involved.. Im in the lazy mood to just have some bolt on shorties.. Unless of course members on her leave bad feedback on these shorties.

These are PLM headers. I don't think these will require tuning on their own. Will probably get AFR closer to optimal.

Ask PLM to price match Kleemann.

I remember seeing PLM style headers going on ebay for around $600, I'm sure you've seen them. By the looks of it, that would be a better deal as KLR CLS did a before and after dyno where he picked up 40HP.

It would be stupid to spend that much seeing as you could have a better header for the same price from EC...

All headers will require a tune...If you get an EC tune (highly recommend) as you add mods, the new tunes are free....

I have those PLMs and they are excellent. Great finish, slightly improved sound, and I felt the performance gain with these over log-type HEMs. I agree with others that the price seems too high.

While a tune would get you the biggest gains, I dont see why it is absolutely needed with headers....I'm just bought and am going to install kleemans with x pipe with no tune. (catless) Yes, I will get a ctel for my rear o2s for now but will take care of that later.
So for those saying you need a tune, can you explain your theory.

Search for the EC group buy...

If the headers are flowing a lot more than stock, then you should log afrs and tune as needed...if you just throw on the headers you may run too lean.

Without tune this header won't gain much power. I recommend Kleemann header for $995 + shipping. And they can tune your ECU for crazy deal. Lets say less than $2K you can have Kleemann header, Tune + labor. Plus, Kleemann is not shorty. Its more like mid size.

Absolutely wrong.. I gained 42 WHP no tuning before and after within 4 hours , same dyno. That is actually my dyno posted in the ebay auction...

I picked up 31hp with the old VRP headers with no tune on the same dyno. I also made
619hp on the kleemann's so they work pretty good too. Can't see spending that much on these headers. I'm confident good long tubes are worth a solid 50hp.

Isn't a big weakness of the stock header/manifold the small collector size?

2005 E55 AMG....Speed is Relaxin'
How would these headers compare performance with Evosport Ceramic coated shorties ??
Since they are similar in design and shape.
