Thinking about NeedsWings Dual CAI for E55...opinion?
I'm thinking about running NeedsWings dual cold air intake on an E55...does anyone have first hand experience with this? It's a bit pricey for an intake, but most aftermarket intakes for an E55 are.
The other option I'm considering are simple K&N (or BMC) drop-ins.

It is an awesome design. The only reason I made my own was because they didn't have it for a 82mm TB yet. Here is a picture of mine. I used slightly bigger fliters and it is a true 3" setup all the way to the radiator support instead of using the MB inlet snorkels. The Y pipe is also custome 3" to 3.5" at the TB so that it matches up with the 82mm. It still runs cool based on my logs and I gained .5psi up top too. I'm guessing it is good for about 10-15hp's but haven't dynoed it to be sure.

THANKS!
THANKS! Let me know if you want to make one yourself since the parts are not that expensive. If you know how to weld, it takes a bit of time to fit up the Y pipe, but the rest is simple or you can have a fabricator put one together for you rather easily. One thing I forgot to mention is that I set it up in a way where the factory airbox's still work with the Y-pipe so it is smog friendly for us in CA. Given the rules are changing, in hindsight I would have made it alot simpler and not worried about that as much.

BTW, did the supercharger whine increase with your custom intake setup?

I'm getting alot of PM's on this intake which is very flattering. I'll put together a parts list tonight and will email it to folks if they would like it. I don't want to get any vendors annoyed and post it in the thread. The Y pipe is the hard part with the remainder being easily handled with an air saw or hack saw and some sweat.

Is it enough compared to stock to at least put a "small" smile on your face?
PM Sent.
