Primary Cat delete with out ECU tune // Good or Bad idea??

Hi guy ~

Jump right into the topic.

My car is 08 63 with BMC filter/ PLM short header / Secondary cat replaced

with 3 inch Xpipe / Resonator replaced with 3inch pipe.

I'm thinking of doing EUROCHARGED EUC tune soon but just wondering

If I could take out stock primary cat and just install 3inch down pipe .

Probably will have to drill four holes for O2 sensors to go into place ,

I was under the impression when primary cats are gone , with out a proper

ECU tune car will go into a limp mode .

what do you guys think ?? Since I live in CA , I do need to take SMOG test.

E63s - AMG and M6
I dont think the car will go into limp mode.

But you will surely get a CEL and an increased emissions warning.

Great idea but not for CALI --CA is too strict and you can get popped much easier than other states. too much trouble and expense dodging the SMOG for such marginal gains.

Dont do it ---

You may look into making flanged race cats that will pass smog test and then also have a set of flanged streight pipes to race with. Yoiu just bolt them in or out, when you need smog or no smog.

You should only get a check engine light with no cats but Jerry can turn that off for you as well.

High flow cats are just as good as no cats unless you have 600+hp then it'll start to restrict power.

You will see minimal gains of 6 or 7 whp if that.

Wise decsion --- we are pretty lucky -- or systems are not that restrictive--- except for the OEM manifolds on the E55 --

I only did it because i wanted more sound for cheap -- E55 mufflers are really quiet
