Need advice. audio guys
I recently had a problem with my subwoofer clipping and distorting even at low volume. I took it to a local audio guy who ive never done business with before. he advised that one of the two voice coils in my sub was shot and that I would have to replace the sub, and quoted me around $200, which made me feel like I found a cheap *** audio guy. So I drop the car off at about noon today, and he says he will have it done by about 5 or 6. I felt that was normal to remove all the stuff to get to a 55ks sub. well, I was just listening to it, and it sounded quiet, more quiet than normal. So I check the 'bass' leve; on the radio, and its all the way up. So now im thinking he put the wrong sub in. So I pull the weird cover thing off that hides the sub and the two speakers on each side. Well, It was the right sub, in fact it was the SAME sub, just with one of the two connectors UNPLUGED. and from looking at it from the trunk, it is in fact the same subwoofer as before, when the $2-- quote was for a replacement and labor.... Do I have a lawsuit or am i really about to hate myself for taking the cheapie route?

Went over there about 8this morning, and he said his tech accidentally misread the invoice and thought it said just to fix the distorting issue. I demanded a refund, and got $180 back, $20 went to the whole hassle of unplugging a connector. Looks like I will be finding someone else to do work on my car

Holy hell! Almost a G for a sub?? That damn Mercedes tax! I am now considering an aftermarket sub and amp...
