E63 Malfunction with up arrow, and Renntech ELM V2 for sale with remote!

Well I got my ELM v2 with remote removed today by the great guys over at Dyno Comp in Scottsdale.

The ELM was actually good, but a problem still stayed with my car. PM me for the ELM if any of you guys wanna buy it, looking around $500 plus shipping, I can deliver to Arizona or California if you wait a few weeks while I get a trip out to cali and swing it by. Everything works on the ELM, turns out I'm having some kind of code with my own Airmatic.

Airmatic malfunction code with the car outline and the up arrow inside the vehicle. We read something about the front left strut, so I think it's something to do with my pump. I think it's probably pump related, or some kind of hose came loose and popped out of the pump.

With the ELM plugged in, it would be able to stay at stock height but still would have the malfunction. But when we uninstalled the ELM, well it looks like this...

It drove almost 40 miles on the highway without any rubbing, don't get me wrong, it looks great, but this is without the ELM and I'm still getting a malfunction with the up arrow in the vehicle outline on the center dash.

I have an appointment to get it diagnosed and figure out what could be wrong. Hopefully you guys can throw out some things that were wrong with your vehicles that could help me solve my problem?

The raise button doesn't raise now, so that leaves me to believe it's the pump or some kind of electrical problem to the pump. The struts seem fine, because when the ELM was plugged in it would go to stock levels when I set it.

Also all 4 wheels are evenly dumped. It's not just one side or the front two or the rear two, the whole thing is dumped without an ELM!

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, it could be just a fuse, or it could be the pump. i'm going to pull off my front left tire tonight, and give it a look and post up pictures, to see if anyone can recognize any loose hoses or wiring.

If you have an arrow, means you have a leak in your suspension. If it JUST started, you should try to fix it before it gets costly. Usually its a loose hose somewhere

ill take the elm/remote if you get rid of it - my car goes in the shop a week from tuesday so could be perfect timing - i am in SJ 95126

I'm thinking it's a leak as well. But I highly doubt all 4 wheels would be lowered like this. They are all even too! I really think it could be the compressor/pump and some fuses the ride height sensor. Other airmatic failures I've seen usually have one side, or the the front two or the rear two, but all four sides? And they are all evenly dropped, it's as if I have the renntech module on really low all around, but not enough to trigger the red warning nor low enough to rub!

For all the ELM stuff PM me.

My first thought would have been leak as well, but in my experience no leak has led to such an even distribution (as you've pointed out) - usually it's one axis or another.

Do you have any kind of diagnostic tools, even an OBD2 reader?

Yes I have an OBDII reader, never really thought it would work on this car?

When it was at dynocomp there error wouldn't always throw a code. But we finally caught one, and it pointed us at the Front Left something. That's all we know. Could be the compressor pump itself, as that is located at the front left.

Sorry guys I have a buyer lined up for this week for the ELM.

I did hook up my OBDII reader, and it's throwing no codes at all!

ODB won't catch it...u need SDS/DAS

That is what I figured.

Off to the dealer with this. Out of warranty too. I'm thinking of selling the car and sitting on the money for a year and buying a black series CLK63.

I am sure someone in AZ has Star...why pay dealer like $200 when someone can do it for free?

I have a friend in Modesto, CA that would do it for free in a heartbeat. I'm all the way out here in AZ now and don't really have any friends with STAR.

They all want to take my money.

probably a leak. I'm sure there are some really good independent shops in your area that will diagnose and fix it for a reasonable cost compared to the stealership.

djrabbi 07-02-2012 07:24 PM

I am sure an indy would fix the problem for less than $300, which is what dealer will charge for diagnostics of the problem

baldmike73 07-02-2012 08:57 PM

i guess i didn't get to you in time! i guess put me in line for 2nd

I'm hoping so, I have an appointment to get it checked out.
