For better acceleration and Performance 18" or 19" light weight wheels ~which one??

Hi ~ guys ~

I'm trying to get rid of my stock 18 inch wheels and get my self a set of

forged wheels.

My most concern is that which size I should go for ~

I was under the impression smaller wheels provide better acceleration off the

line and does give you couple pounds of weight savings as well.

However I DO like the look of 19 inch wheels.

Which size shall I go for ????????????

they are both forged wheels 18 inch and 19inch.

18" 8.5 = 19.5 lbs = front
18" 9.5 = 21.05 lbs = rear
18" 10.5= 21.25 lbs = rear ( Will 10.5J fit on the rear?????)

19" 8.5 = 21.4 lbs = front
19" 9.5 = 22.5 lbs = rear
19" 10.5 = 22.4 lbs = rear

the smaller the wheel the lower the rotational inertia. THe smaller wheel will accelerate faster

Looks like your only concerns are acceleration and performance (or at least thats what you posted).. I think the answer should be pretty clear (18s)..

I see. What about stock OEM 10 inch AMG wheels VS forged 19 inch wheels?

Stock weights aprx 7lbs more . In this case even 19 inches are bigger but since

its lighter will it be better than stock wheels??

Up to a certain speed ... Then a bigger wheel will have the advantage of greater speed.

Anyhow this and weight reduction due to forged wheels are really minimum to represent any advantage with stock car.

No. assuming that the tires rolling radius is the same the larger wheel will always be slower ESPECIALLY at higher rotational speeds

I was assuming 19s and tires had bigger overall diameter.

You should honestly just get the ones you like the most. I know the 63 is a different animal but acceleration in a straight line is not the problem, it's putting the power to ground. You'll get more gains in acceleration by getting the stickiest tire you can get away with for your intended purpose (ie, DR's are not going to be for someone who daily drives). You'll notice more of a difference with braking and handling that you will with acceleration with the lighter wheels. . .

Not necessarily~ because inorder to keep the speedometer accurate you

will be putting a low aspect ratio tire, so overall diameter will be same.

Get 18" wheels and put semi slicks on them.

I was thinking NITTO NT 01 ~ This should be enough grip for spiritual driving

and occasional track events right?

Yes NT 01 is a very good option.

Toyo R888 is another good option.

I moved to 20x9 fronts and 20x10.5 rears and tbh you can tell no diference on the street with regards to excelaration or braking due to extra weight . I think kerb side is around 3545 lb and the seat of pants dyno would not notice a 1% increase .
Handling is way way improved and I guess brake cooling so it's been plus plus all the way for me .

Just put my fronts on the scales original AMG wheels and tyres are 52 lb and the brabus 20x9 with tyres are are 56 lb . So increase over 4 wheels and tyres I dout is more than 20lb.
You may notice on a drag strip a slight decrease in execration due to extra weight ?

Hi I'm running 285 25 20 with no problem and 255 30 20 fronts but now changing to 265 30 20 fronts . My wheels were original factory fit on a brabus k8 and 10.5 fit with no issues at all .
Regards
Marc
