Can the sump be welded?
I just back today from sunny Cyprus on a lovely week's holiday and was greeted by a rough/low oil sounding engine for the first second and then a nice "Engine oil level - visit workshop" message. I thought it might be a sensor, so I tentatively added small amounts of oil to see if the level might have been slightly low....I looked under the car and low and behold...oil was dripping out from the sump ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I'll investigate it fully on Saturday morning. My main question is, if I rip off the sump, can I simply get the leaks welded, or would that not be advisable? If not I guess I'll just buy another sump.

Thanks guys, that's really good to know. Should be a fairly straightforward fix then, phew ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Justin - it's an oem sump, whatever that's made of...
