Way off Topic, Audi A4 cabriolet

I'm way off topic, but I trust you guys and your opinions. Well, most of you.

I have been trying to add a "E" to the stable for a long time. Given the long winters in WI, I thought a W212 4matic (E350) would be the perfect DD for my wife. She is down on MBs these days and keeps reminding me how many times my SL has been towed. We need a luxo sedan when there is more than the two of us. The SL obviously won't work and my ML smells like Greyhound. An E is the perfect machine, but the wife says no more MBs.

So now, the wife has her eye on an Audi A4 cabriolet. Keep in mind, her main criterion for picking cars is cuteness and cup holder count. I'm thinking the Audi is basically an expensive VW. If I am not mistaken, they share power trains.

Sure would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe I just need to bring an E home knowing she will probably love it. I wonder how many cup holders the W212 has

This is really in the wrong forum unless you plan on buying a W211 AMG. But my mother owns a W212 (E350 P2 sport package) so I will throw my two cents in. You mentioned long winters, a cabriolet will freeze with the soft top, also the weather in WI is hardly ever warm enough to have the top down enough to use so right there is a good excuse. Other than that the W212 seats 4 very comfortably and the front seats have really nice seat warmers (women love that, comes with the P2 package). Buy the sport package, it comes with the nice 18 inch AMG branded wheels that give a sporty look and also has the better front bumper (nice LED driving lamps) along with a sleek lip spoiler coming off the trunk. In the trunk it has a 15x10 extendable grocery/bag holder in the trunk, my wife and my mother were both in awe with that function and its pretty cool looking. If you get the P2 package it has the IPod/MP3 functionality to the Navigation/Stereo system as well as the rear backup camera (another cool option) and a couple of cool luxuries. You get a lot more car for your money than the A4 Cab...

Thanks for the input Johnny. I know I am off, but I have a nicely modded 55k like a lot of the guys on this forum and probably 90% of my way too many posts happen here.

Believe it or not, WI has perfect convertible weather for maybe 6 months. It does not get so damn hot and humid that you can't drop the top like most of the Midwest. I am definitely concerned about a frozen soft top though. I really want to get wifey an E550 4matic and have the EC boys tune the bi-turbo. Maybe set up a wifey tune and a fun tune for when I drive.

I have one, what would you like to know?

I'll be selling mine in February to pick up an S5 cabriolet.

Would I recommend this car to someone, you bet, IF you really need an AWD convertible. Which I do, LOL

Get the Audi, after a year or so...she'll want an MB again. LOL.

I LOVE Audi's, and have owned several VW's, but they are not reliable in the least bit.

What year is yours? I know it sounds odd, but an AWD convertible makes pretty good sense in southeastern WI. AWD for winter driving and convertible for the summer months with average highs in the high 70s and low 80s. Your in PA, what is the soft top like in frigid temps? I am guessing with modern materials it is just fine. One more question, what kind of freeway MPG do you see?

thanks man.

Nice! After you are done shopping for cars, you might want to start shopping for rings.
