And yes definitely thinking of changing out the pulley waiting to hear back from the manufacturer... In all likeliness if I keep the car I will probably run a stock pulley or 168 pulley with the new weistec blower once figures come out and some cars run them for more than a few weeks

awesome, another belt bites the dust.... this time it didnt just fall off like it usually does, it just exploded into a million shreds, wrapped around the accessory belt and took a nick out of it...
now i will need to replace my accessory belt before that nick turns into a snapped belt and overheated car on side of road... lol i love this !

and thats what is seems like... seems like that the belt is able to either jump ontop of the pulley lip and split itself in half and then proceed to tear itself up, or its able to just completely jump off the pulley and over the lip (in those cases i can just put the belt back on)

while waiting to find a stock crank pulley, i decided to order a different belt size as I saw a dayco 5080510 which is effective length of about 51 inches so about .4 inches smaller than the gates 51.4 in that is recommended for the 172m pulley...
i was able to get it to fit so will see if that keeps belt from hopping off but its probably gonna just shred...
since the manufature of the pulley is going to warranty it, i might just go stock crank pulley and buy one of the s/c pulley for the meantime and sell the 172M they send me since in all likeliness when the whipple s/c come out i will prob buy one and dont want to run a 172M pulley in combo with the whipple

Sounds like you have a tensioner problem....There was another post just recently made, where the guy had the same issue you are having only to discover the tensioner had been installed incorrectly.
"Mods do not necessarily cause issues as much as they reveal them; Case in point I installed a new EC pulley and tune (Thanks Jerry) and immediately began shredding belts. Upon investigation I discovered that a previous owner replaced just the pulley on my tensioner and apparently installed it backwards. The original RPM and torque never revealed the issue. Only upon the mod did the belt find the edge of the pulley and cut itself."
Update : Sorry I just looked at your first few posts...I don't believe it is your crank pulley, but have you had it spec'd to see if it is true ? My guess is this is a bad tensioner issue ( I know you replaced, but I don't know with what)....

i have seen at least 3 people with this belt shredding problem on the forum: grandwoodtx, johncy2000 and pearlpower as he stated above and they all have been with the 172m pulley and all seemed to get fixed when they went to the 180m pulley... i am wondering if the 172m is just in a weird size range that cant keep belts on ?
I was thinking of trying out the new belt wrap kit out there but my only hesitation is that if the belts still come of then with the belt wrap kit that brace between two pulleys looks like it could hold the belt into spinning pulleys and get all tangled up, whereas now currently without a belt wrap kit my belt will at least fling itself off and set against the fan shroud outta harms way 9 out of 10 times
