Emblem Measurements & Subwoofer Request

Hi all,

I need assistance with two things for my 2003 E55:

1) Can anyone tell me how far up and from the side of the fenders the V8 Kompressor emblems are? I took them off to paint them and I want to put them back on in their original fitment locations.

2) My subwoofer needs replacing and was wondering if I should get an OEM one (don't know the item number) or an aftermarket less expensive one? Any suggestions on what brands are good? This is out of my knowledge base.

Any and all responses are appreciated.

Gone but not Forgotten 2006 E55 Renntech
Question #1:
Just measured mine

Drivers side the top of the letter R is .5" from the end of the fender panel. The bottom of the R is 4" from the top of the side strip insert (hope this makes sense)

Strangely the passenger side is slightly different And I am 99% sure my car has never seen paint / repair

Passenger side the top of the V is 1.25" from the end of the fender panel. The bottom of the V is just over 4.5" from the top of the side strip insert.

Hope this helps

i'd take your car to an audio shop to see what they'd quote on a nice sub setup - I can't imagine how much the MB sub would cost

Just b/c I couldn't find it using certain keywords such as "unmolested" shouldn't make anyone come to the conclusion that I didn't try searching.

Nonetheless, thanks for the link.

So no one can recommend any good sub woofer brands that would potentially work on my car?

JL, Alpine, eD, Boston Acoustic, AR to name a few...depends on how much you want to spend...If you are going to just do a straight replace, you'll want to select a unit that is designed for the trunk volume or try to make a sealed enclosure...

Here are a few free air subs : http://www.crutchfield.com/g_520/Com...res|FFFree_Air
