EC LongTube Headers review *pix*

Ordered on 6/14 and recieved them 7/25.. small delay.. Anyways it was worth the wait, these are the real deal! My only concerns are the vulnerable placement of the o2 sensors and the very noticeable misalignment of the passenger side assembly compared the stock pipe position (further down you'll see in the pictures)

Also the 3'' SS Flex Pipes were NOT included as pictured on EC's website, no biggy, hauled *** to the local exhaust shop and picked up 2 for 60$

Here are a couple pix of them mounted on a rebuilt 113 we had standing around the shop..

Sexy!!

Overal quality of the welds were pretty serious. Where the tube meets flange it looked like they also welded it from the inside too and grinded it all down smoothly. The install was straight forward, all the nuts on the cylinder head were pretty easily accessible with no special attention needed except for cylinder # 4 on the passenger side.

Heres a pic of them installed, notice how the passenger side is way off, had to trim the pipe heading into the X pipe to accommodate.

Heres one of the ****ty o2 positioning

Did 4 test pulls and put her back up on the lift to check the mother****er out and the supplied nylon nut holding the collector to the tubes failed..

Do yourself a favor, ditch the cheap bolt and nylon nut for a 10.9 grade bolt and copper lock nut at your local bolt store for 3$..

And of course one of the stocker just for fun wtf was MB thinking?

Summery: If you think your just gunna bolt them in on a Saturday night with your boy, a floor jack, and a 12pack in the front yard.. you'r mistaking. There was a very good amount of cutting & welding. Driver side stock pipe going into the flex pipe was more oval and needed to be rounded. As you see the passenger side collector ended up being way off. Couple of inches of extra 3'' pipe were needed too. Me (full time MB specialist) my father (fabricator & welder) and my wife (just bad too the bone plain and simple ) knocked it out after work, took about 4.5 hours.

First couple of pulls I could feel the headers touching the body (with new motor and tranny mounts) and made the car feel like a old toyota camry. Back up on the lift I was able to easily take care of the problem by bending in some heat shield areas with a pry bar, mostly on the driver side.. no need for pictures you will see when you install em.

No dyno comparisons, but its 50whp all day I assure you .. Light exhaust leak coming from the collectors but goes away after the metal heats up and expands. Exhaust note has very noticeably changed all around except for idle. I seen a lot of ppl cry about how low the collector sits but I rolled into some steep gas stations and nailed a couple of speed bumps in Sport2 suspension mode and nothing so far If anything some road debry is gunna take out the o2 sensors one day. But Untill then IM LOVING THESE HEADERS!!!! ///AMG

+1 Eurocharged

Wow, lots of fab work for what they charge. Hopefully they'll see this and reimburse you for the flex pipes.

I'm not surprised at the gains on the butt dyno after fitting these headers. The stock headers are the worst I've ever seen on a car. If MB bothered to make a set of decent headers, the car would have been a true contender for the E60 M5 in a straight line drag (stock for stock)

Pretty sure it's still a contender. I pulled on one stock for stock at my local drag track.

Oh really?? ^^^ I didn't know this was possible. Ok I'll do some fishing for more info (so not to thread hijack) - that's good to know though! I'm going to go M5 hunting on the weekend then :p
