May have something to do with the distronic, but the distronic is not supposed to stop you from going past 100mph. 100mph is the max speed you can set distronic to though.

No you cant switch the limiter back and forth to different speeds. Well, programming the VMAX can but it's not just something you turn on and off. Try disconnecting the battery and see if that fixes it? Sounds like distronic is still active.

You can reduce the top speed with the mb sds "star" computer. Maby the previous owner had the top speed reduced. It's for when snow tires are installed or possably teen drivers.

I've got distronic but have been well over 100mph without issue and never saw anything that would cause it to limit the top speed. I LOVE my distronic.

i agree with bnzuovr. It might be something simple in Star or if it is expensive, pay the diagnostics fee and bring the info back to the forum.

I have an 04 with distronic and I've never had that issue. I will turn the distronic on and play with the settings a little to see if distronic will actualy slow you down if trying to exceed 100 mph.

Everything in the MB Range - So there.
Sorry to intrude on your thread but this sounds quite simply like the winter tyre speed limiter is activated.
Use the controls on the steering wheel to get to settings and de-activate the "winter speed limiter".
Et voila.

Unless North American spec cars dont have this function which I very much doubt as we build global cars that all have the same hidden menus.
Oh, and its nothing to do with the distronic being faulty either.
