U have an iPad or iPhone. What about dash command in the app store try that?
There r a few others can't remember the name.

That ELM327 won't work, it is a cheap chinese knock off. I bought one and it is sitting on my desk collecting dust. Not sure why I haven't thrown it away...

You just have to order the right one. Apparently there are bad knockoff versions of the good one. I just bought this one last week for 24 bucks and it's been working great with DashCommand on my jailbroken iPad and iPhone. Also works natively with android's Torque app. It's Bluetooth so you don't have cables, and the reviews explain how it's the real version not the knockoff.

do they make a version without the long cable? I mean why have it WiFi if it has a 6-foot cable attached!?

I have the paid version of the torque app and the elm 327 ........ I have been data logging for two weeks, it is hands down the best thing. I use my 10 inch tablet with a windshield mount as a screen, in fact I have seen a it temps under wide open up to 220 so I replaced the pump now never above 135...... I can also tell u of custom pids

I have this same unit and yes the cable is long, but keep it tied up and then it doesn't matter. I leave mine plugged in all the times (you can set it to turn off after a set time to save the battery, 3 weeks plugged in and not moving the car, started right up). Then tuck the cable and unit up under the dash there is plenty of room to get it up and out of the way and it won't fall out. This is also nice since it won't stick as far down as the cheaper ELM unit so you won't hit it with your legs at all.

Also this unit gives the data faster I think.

Also this is the better cheaper bluetooth version, which is what I have:

I have the cheap Elm 327 and Dashcommand on my jailbroken Iphone and it works fine. It took a little configuring of the ip address to 127.0.0.1 and port to 35000.
