Trunk Tank Installation

I just received my Ice Tank and ordered all the hoses and connections, not quite sure on the best route for the 3/4 inch hoses to get from the trunk and past exhaust/axle/fuel tank. Can anyone post some pictures of the best route.
I tried searching but had no luck.

put some header wrap on the hoses when they run by the passenger side exhaust.
run them over the axels and sub frame and under the plastic sheilds into the front wheel well .
I have had mine like this for about a year now without any issues.

BTW do you have a pump mounted in the tank?

I will have an additional pump installed in the trunk, when you say over the axle and subframe do you mean between the bodywork and the subframe? Is there enough room?

there is some room, once the car is on the lift you will be able to figure out how to run the hose in that area.

Who's tank did you get? Are you running a Y to separate the water that goes to the spray bar also? You don't want to impede the flow going back into the tank.

It was made in the UK by a company called ProAlloy, it does have a Y shaped spray bar for the return which is 3/4 inch. The "spray" is 1/4 inch holes all along the bar, it can still flow more than the 2 pumps we tested it with and we have a 3rd one just in case.

Had the tank fitted but not without issues, not sure if the wagon has a different layout to the sedan but there was no way we could get the pipes over the subframe, after a lot of head scratching the solution was to go through the rear of the well towards the tailgate and split the out and return down either side of the car. Pipes run over the rear and front arches behind the plastic.

We ended up just fitting 2 pumps and the flow seems fine through the spray bar, have not used ice yet only water with coolant and with 80 deg ambient have been running 95 to 107 deg on consecutive WOT pulls

Just to clarify, you are spraying water on the front heat exchanger? Whatever you are doing, if you are seeing a max IAT of 107*F with ambients in 80s, that is awesome.

The spray bar is inside the trunk tank on the return, its a U / Y shape with approx 25 x 5mm holes so that the fluid returning is spread evenly across the tank. The idea was for the ice to melt as evenly as possible, the guys that designed it spent 2 dyno sessions to see if there was an optimal flow rate and capacity of the system. The tank and spray bar design was with the help of one of the FIA European Drag Racing teams, I am no engineer so I pretty much followed there advice.

I am sure the IAT's will increase once the car has sustained WOT, the 107 was after 2 x back to back 0-80mph at full WOT. I was also a little surprised.

I will be at an event soon that has a 2 mile straight with 1.7 mile before the braking point so will log and see how it performs.

Thanks for the clarification. Those are some amazing results and a great data point for a large tank and split cooling. Do you happen to have IAT data before you installed the tank?

Sorry mistake on the figures was 117 not 107 IAT!

Before recent work car was measured as having 0.3 bar cat back exhaust back pressure and 0.1 bar intake vacuum measurement taken after TB and was running up to 160 IAT at the end of a 1/4.

I have 3 logs all 2 x 0-80 mph full WOT

1st before complete decat 3 inch exhaust and Needswings CAI
158 IAT 75 ambient

2nd after decat and CAI before trunk tank
140 IAT 77 ambient

3rd Trunk tank no ice
117 IAT 80 ambient

That was the plan but after change of routing on pipes tank was turned 90 deg for ease of install.

Thanks so much! Great data and that tank is having HUGE benefits. If this is not enough data for folks wondering if a large tank is beneficial, I don't know what is....Thanks again

You might starve your pump feed with the way it's mounted. Try to keep the level high. I will probably see you and Acid next time I'm over there

The pump feed is pretty low down and also has a collector similar to in a fuel tank but yes I can see what you are saying.
I was with Acid last weekend at a show at Silverstone.
